Queen Vibes KC believes you can look forward to a workout, and we create just that. When you're at a QVKC workout, you can always expect a fire playlist, a space to grow, and a fun and inclusive workout. When you walk into the room, we want you to feel at home. We are driven by our mission to gather, move, and grow.
In the Kansas City community it is no secret that our city is full of pride in it's small businesses and wellness communitites. However, both as instructors and as participants in group fitness classes, we have felt out of place in certain wellness settings and wanted to find a solution. Fitness for black women and communities of color is unique, and we wanted to take that into account when designing and defining QVKC. Community and connection is so important, so that is why we decided to plan a calendar of events that promote social connection and movement. We have designed ways for participants to meet new friends, instructors, and maybe even find their newest workout partner! We hope our queens feel confident and loved when they are at a QVKC event.
When I move, you move. Just like that! At the core of our drive is the desire to move with others. Physical activity is so important for our physical and mental health, and we want to make group fitness classes both accessible and fun for the queens of Kansas City. We have started out with upbeat cardio dance classes (WERQ), and plan to expand into other formats including slow flow R&B yoga, heel dance classes, step aerobics, and more. QVKC collaborates with instructors who are experienced, engaging, and representative of our diverse base. We want to give instructors the autonomy to create classes created intentionally with black women in mind to help them reach their goals, feel empowered, and look forward to a workout. Black women face more barriers to physical activity than any demographic, and we want to combat those barriers head on.
We are committed to making Queen Vibes KC a community that promotes personal growth and empowers positive change. Whether it is coming to try a new workout format, or deciding to become certified to teach a class- we want you to know you have a community that is cheering you on every step of the way.
Another way we will prioritize growth is through education opportunities. At the end of the day, we, the founders of QVKC met as teachers and truly believe in the power of information. Because of this, we working to connect with experts in nutrition, finance, fitness, fashion, art, and more to help us grow to be the best version of ourselves and discover new passions. QVKC is just one piece of the puzzle in helping communities of color have more equitable opportunities for reaching and setting their wellness goals.

Kayla and Olivia met in the summer of 2018 when they join the Kansas City Teach for America corps. They both still work in education and hold Master's degrees. A few more similarities: both have black and white dogs (Charlie and Chinard), both drive blue cars, and both LOVE a go to peace sign pose. Wanna get them talking? Ask them about their enneagram number!
